CT Regional 09
Monday, March 30th, 2009
It was a humbling experience for the ÜberBots this weekend. After a hard-fought eight games in regulation matches, the ÜberBots were a respectable 4-4. Unfortunately, they were not picked for the playoffs. Afterwards, the ÜberBots kept their spirits up, and cheered for other teams during the playoffs. Despite this setback, the ÜberBots learned a great deal, and will look to carry their lessons and experiences with them for a run in Atlanta. They will also look to improve their control system in hopes of winning the Championship Rockwell Automation Innovation in Control Award, following them winning the award at the CT Regionals.
For the upcoming weeks, we will be meeting with the same pre-Regional schedule at Reflexite in order to practice. We will also be looking to add to our drive team, opening the roster up to four Driver 1s and four Drivers 2. We highly encourage all those interested to give it a try.

CT Regionals
March 23rd, 2009
Hey everyone!
The Regionals are a scant three days away, and the team is busy at work preparing for the Connecticut Regionals. They will run all day on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday, March 26th – 28th at the Connecticut Convention Center.
The following is an outline of each day:
Thursday, March 26th is the practice day, a low-key day that teams use to prepare and practice with their robots. Due to the preparatory nature of the day, the team finds it beneficial to bring only a small core group of members, as decided by their good standing on the team (as per Handbook procedures). The roster of students going on Thursday is as follows:
Taylor Amarel
Matt Bedard
Zach Clapper
Evan Dorsky
Tim Guilford
Ben Henry
Lauren Jefferson
Zhihe Li
Connor McCrudden
Eric Ni
Ethan Read
Max Reenan
Jared Simonelli
Ketaki Shashank
Todd Slater
Kelsey Starr
Sirui Sun
Adam Turner
Margaret Valerio
We will arrive at the school at 7:00 am, depart the school at 7:30 am, arrive at the convention center by 8:30 am, depart the Convention Center at 8:00 pm, and arrive back to the school by 8:45 pm.
Friday, March 27th is the first official day of regulation matches, and we invite all team members to come that day. Once again, ALL TEAM MEMBERS are eligible to go to the competition on Friday. We will arrive at the school at 6:30 am, depart at 7:00 am, arrive at the Convention Center at 8:00 am, depart the Convention Center at 6:00 pm, and arrive back to school by 6:45 pm.
Saturday, March 28th is the final day of competitions, during which happens the playoffs and the awards ceremonies. Family members are highly encouraged to come via the fan bus, which will be departing Avon High School at 8:50 am. The team itself will arrive at the high school at 6:30 am, depart at 7:00 am, arrive at the convention center at 8:00 am, depart the Convention Center by 5:00 pm, and arrive back to school by 5:45 pm. After Saturday, we may stop by 99 for a team dinner.
It promises to be a fun-filled and action-packed weekend, and we hope everyone comes on Saturday to show their support.
Thanks,
-The Management Team

Parent Meeting
March 14th 2009
Hi everyone,
This Wednesday, March 18th, the ÜberBots will be holding a meeting to discuss what can be done to continue the advancement of science and technology in the Avon community. While the current programs (ÜberBots, Lego League) have been successful, with today's pressures and changes the future is unknown. The ÜberBots are requesting all parents of the town to come out and learn what they can do to support students interested in these unique programs. The meeting will be held from 7:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at Reflexite (50 Tower Lane)
We look forward to seeing and hearing from all of you.
Thanks,
The Management Team

ÜberBots- CT Regional Attendance
Sunday March 1st, 2009
Hi everyone,
The regional is rapidly approaching and the team is hard at work. Thanks to everyone who came out and helped prepare the team for Hartford this weekend. The regional will take place from Thursday, March 26th through Saturday March 28th.
As in recent years, the Uberbots will only be bringing those who have signed up and have been accepted for key roles on Thursday, March 26th. This is because Thursday is designated as a set up and practice day.
The current group is as follows:
Taylor A,
Matt B,
Zach C,
Evan D,
Tim G,
Ben H,
Lauren J,
Zhihe L,
Connor M,
Eric N,
Ethan R,
Max R,
Ketaki S,
Todd S,
Kelsey S,
Sirui S,
Adam T,
and Margaret V
Friday's list is now in the making and as stated in the handbook attendance to the Regional will depend on good standing in the team determined by your attitude, particpipation and attendance. We encourage everyone to attend the many March meetings left leading up to the Regional. Anyone who has questions or concerns should contact either the Management Team or the Coach. We look forward to seeing everyone over the next few weeks.
Thanks,
The Management Team

Suffield Shakedown
Hey Everyone!
This Saturday, February 14th, the ÜberBots will be attending the Suffield Shakedown Competition. Everyone attending must come to the high school at 6:30am and we will be returning at around 6pm. However, competitions are known for running late, so the return time is an estimate. Please sign a permission slip and bring it to one of the meetings or the day of the competition. You will need at least $10 for lunch and we would like everyone to wear their 2008 blue ÜberBots shirts. If you have your own safety glasses, please bring them. See you then!

Bash at the Beach!
Saturday, October 19th
The ÜberBots attended the annual Bash at the Beach competition at Lyme-Old Lyme Middle School today, along with almost 30 other teams. The day was great fun, and team focused on training its new members in all the roles of competition. Whether it was Spirit, Scouting, Pit Crew, Energy Management, or Drive Team, the senior members of the team guided and trained their teammates. By the end of the day, the team became a well-oiled machine. In the qualifiers, the ÜberBots posted an excellent record of 5-2, before moving on to the playoffs. There, they parterned with Team 181, The Birds of Prey from Hartford and Team 195, The CyberKnights, from Southington, as the 8th seed alliance. The three teams went on to sweep the quarterfinals, before falling to Teams 190, 121 and 238 in the semi-finals.The team would like to congratulate and thank all involved for their hard work and cooperation
