UberBots take Regional
Hi everyone,
If you haven't already heard the UberBots team 1124 was able to grab their fourth Northeast Utilities CT regional in five years! After 10 qualification matches the UberBots were seeded first with an 8-0-2 record. As a result, the team was granted the first pick in the alliance selection and chose their international friends team 383 from Brazil! With their final pick the UberBots were able to pick team 102 the Gearheads! This solid alliance soared through the elimination matches never losing a match! The UberBots ended this remarkable performance with an overall record of 14-0-2.
In addition, to the Regional victory the UberBots were able to pick up two more awards. They won their second consecutive Innovation in Control Award sponsored by Rockwell Automation for their stellar drive system which helped them stay mobile and unpredictable throughout the weekend. They were also able to snag the Coopertition Award for scoring more points than any other team at the event.
After a very fun three days the UberBots just wanted to thank everyone who came out and supported the team and made their Regional win possible! To the students who worked their butts off, to the mentors who gave hundreds of hours of time, and to the fans who never left the bleachers the entire weekend, we thank you! This is a very exciting time for the UberBots who have worked extremely hard to get to where they are and will look to continue this success at the National Championship April 15-17th.
Congratulations to everyone,

Heublein Tower
Hi Everyone,
On Sunday, October 25th the Robotics team will be be at Heublein Tower for a demo. The event will run from 10:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. Students are more than welcome to stop by for the whole day or only a few hours. The demo location will be at the top of the mountain right next to the tower (Directions are below) Students are reminded to wear their blue UberBots shirts. However, we encourage students to bundle up because it will be chilly at the top of the mountain. It would also be advised that you bring a lawn chair to sit in. Finally, bring some money so you can get food and drinks.
Thanks to the help of the Heublein Tower volunteers and staff, the UberBots will have the option to drive up to the tower for drop offs. Directions are below
1. Head up Route 44 from Avon.
2. Take a left onto Parsons Way
3. Take your first left on Parsons Way and drive down the road to the culdesac. (This is where the carpool will meet at 10:00 a.m.)
4. If not carpooling up to the top, take a right onto Montevideo road on the other side of the culdsesac.
5. Follow along on this road slowly. You will pass a red house on the left and then a big red carriage barn on the right, once you pass this barn you will need to bear right.
6. You will see a gate that says 240 on it. Lift up the pin, open the gate, drive through. and close the gate again.
7. Drive slowly up this road to the tower, parking will be on the right.
Because parking at the summit will be at a minimum and the roads to the top are very narrow and slow moving, students wishing to catch a ride to the top of the mountain with a robotics mentor should meet at the culdesac right before Montivideo road at 10:00 a.m. This way we can set up a few carpools to the top and save your parents some time.
If students cannot make it for 10:00 a.m. and would still like to attend later in the day they should follow the entire list list of directions up to the summit
Hope to see everyone there

Display Case and Robodemo
May 15, 2009
Hi everyone,
Soon, we will take out the trophies in our display case, and it will be filled with art for the Annual Art Exposition. This is temporary and Mr. Pappa has ensured us that we can put back our trophies by the end of the school year or during the summer. We wanted to make sure that everyone is aware of the switch so that no one is alarmed when the display case has art inside it.
On another note, we will be demonstrating the robot at Avon Middle School on June 9th in the cafeteria during all of the 8th grade lunches. If you are planning on attending the demo, please ask Margaret for more details.

Lunacy Continues!
April 28, 2009
Team, families, and friends,
Congratulations and thanks to all team members that were able to make it to Atlanta. As you have probably heard, the team made it to the quarterfinals in Galileo division. This is a great accomplishment! What some of you may not know, or may have forgotten, our 2008 coach and two drivers graduated last year, so our new drive team did an awesome job! Atlanta may be over but there is still a lot of Lunacy fun left for us to experience. Upcoming events include: Where’s Wolcott? (Scrimmage), robo-demos at the elementary schools, and if there is enough interest we may attend 2009 Indiana Robotics Invitational (IRI). For more information on IRI check out IRI 2009 on our forum or the Chief Delphi link http://www.chiefdelphi.com/forums/showthread.php?threadid=77026. We will also be holding a fundraiser soon (details to follow in an email), elections and the year-end party! Let’s keep the Lunacy of Atlanta alive throughout the remainder of the season!

CT Regional 09
Monday, March 30th, 2009
It was a humbling experience for the ÜberBots this weekend. After a hard-fought eight games in regulation matches, the ÜberBots were a respectable 4-4. Unfortunately, they were not picked for the playoffs. Afterwards, the ÜberBots kept their spirits up, and cheered for other teams during the playoffs. Despite this setback, the ÜberBots learned a great deal, and will look to carry their lessons and experiences with them for a run in Atlanta. They will also look to improve their control system in hopes of winning the Championship Rockwell Automation Innovation in Control Award, following them winning the award at the CT Regionals.
For the upcoming weeks, we will be meeting with the same pre-Regional schedule at Reflexite in order to practice. We will also be looking to add to our drive team, opening the roster up to four Driver 1s and four Drivers 2. We highly encourage all those interested to give it a try.

The following is an outline of each day:
Thursday, March 26th is the practice day, a low-key day that teams use to prepare and practice with their robots. Due to the preparatory nature of the day, the team finds it beneficial to bring only a small core group of members, as decided by their good standing on the team (as per Handbook procedures). The roster of students going on Thursday is as follows:

Matt Bedard
Zach Clapper
Evan Dorsky
Tim Guilford
Ben Henry
Lauren Jefferson
Zhihe Li
Connor McCrudden
Eric Ni
Ethan Read
Max Reenan
Jared Simonelli
Ketaki Shashank
Todd Slater
Kelsey Starr
Sirui Sun
Adam Turner
Margaret Valerio
We will arrive at the school at 7:00 am, depart the school at 7:30 am, arrive at the convention center by 8:30 am, depart the Convention Center at 8:00 pm, and arrive back to the school by 8:45 pm.
Friday, March 27th is the first official day of regulation matches, and we invite all team members to come that day. Once again, ALL TEAM MEMBERS are eligible to go to the competition on Friday. We will arrive at the school at 6:30 am, depart at 7:00 am, arrive at the Convention Center at 8:00 am, depart the Convention Center at 6:00 pm, and arrive back to school by 6:45 pm.
Saturday, March 28th is the final day of competitions, during which happens the playoffs and the awards ceremonies. Family members are highly encouraged to come via the fan bus, which will be departing Avon High School at 8:50 am. The team itself will arrive at the high school at 6:30 am, depart at 7:00 am, arrive at the convention center at 8:00 am, depart the Convention Center by 5:00 pm, and arrive back to school by 5:45 pm. After Saturday, we may stop by 99 for a team dinner.
It promises to be a fun-filled and action-packed weekend, and we hope everyone comes on Saturday to show their support.
Thanks,
-The Management Team
